MEK (methyl ethyl ketone, aka lacquer thinner) and Acetone are chemical cousins (essentially like methanol and ethanol are). MEK is available by the qt and gallon at Home Depot, and most large hardware stores, as is Acetone. MEk is a bit better solvent than acetone, but perhaps even harder on the human lungs/body. Use good lung and skin protection items with either. MEK WILL attack and remove the paint on the car, and acetone eventually will. Good Luck.

Some have rendered 'empty' tanks less dangerous by piping another car's exhaust gases through the filler or the gauge hole, to displace the flammable vapours. Or maybe suck air through it with a vacuum cleaner.....not sure about sparks on motor commy though.

I recommended Xylene because it is a solvent for 'special' or 'other' glues and such. Im not convinced its RTV. If it is, Xylene will still work great, but the heat gun and spatula will take it off real quick. Im wondering (by the picture) if it wasn't like liquid nails or something.

I am a bad example of what not to do in my previous posts/ cavalier attitude to sovents/polluting the environment etc. BUT can I please urge everyone to read the info on the tins/sprays/chemicals you are using as to the true contents then goolgle to find an MSDS for that chemical. Forewarned is forearmed etc.
Now I'll go and have a cigarette and another glass of Shiraz
