Pantera?

Of all the cars I've ever owned, the " Polecat" still thrills me as much as it did the first time I drove it! A GTS Pantera still stops traffic, and now 40 years later most people have no idea what it is.
There are a slew of exotics here in Vegas, but nothing draws a crowd like a GTS Pantera. And the sound is unreal!
BTW the Pantera owners club is a dedicated as the 928 crowd. I'm lucky that I have both cars.

Almost bought his orange one, still regret not buying it.

DR, I don't recall the car, that paint job isn't one you'd soon forget. I spent almost all my time on the west coast.
FWIW, my 74 is a clone. I added the steel flairs & ground effects from Hall Pantera. The real GTS's were imported by Amerisport till DeTomaso stopped production. I know that Shelby imported 2 GT5 S Panteras in the late 80's. The group 5's are like hens teeth here in the states. The bodywork is awsome, truly timeless. But the powertrain is the same 351 Cleveland. With a much nicer interior. All the early Panteras had mustang seats left over from the early mustang production.

Don Peake used to live just around the corner from me, was president of the owners club for awhile and had a daily driver with something like 200k on it. Several of the owners swapped over to a 4.6 mod motor, but cooling seemed like an issue that never totally went away for long.
I tried hard about 3 times to buy a Pantera starting with a brand new one in 1974 with a sticker of just over $10k. I had the money, but more pressing plans so had to pass on it. Mayberry Lincoln Mercury supported the Pantera for a long long time, used to always have a couple in stock, and last time I looked at one I just did not fit any way shape or form.
The July 1994 issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords had a feature on a very hot sounding Pantera.
"Pat Mical has a nifty 72 Pantera featured. Salient points are that it is a
daily driver, has about 1000 hp and does over 200 mph on a road course, all
via a "Fontana" aluminium 351 with twin turbochargers and a freon intercooler."

You might have gone nuts and shot at the whale sharks or something! I mean it is a pretty dangerous place and surely all the people without permits obeyed the rules and left their CCW at home.
