Oil pressure guage sticks

Searched the forum but didn't find my particular problem.
Car is running fantastic. No leaks and oil at proper level. Plenty of power. Lately the oil pressure gauge seems to be getting stuck at mid range. If it rises over mid range it will not come down below it. Happened a few times in a row and solves itself after 20 minutes of driving. Then today it wont rise above mid level. It rises and falls with RPM's but wont' go over mid range. Any ideas? Assuming gauge over sender. If gauge, assume pod has to come out?

Well, it's easy to test:
Disconnect the wires at the sender. The gauge should read zero.
Jumper the wires together. The gauge should peg.
If the gauge responds as expected it's the sender, if not, it's the gauge.

dont jumper the wires together you may damage the separate circuits .
disconnect one of the leads at the sender and start the car see what part of the warning system stops working either the light or gauge your looking for the gauge wire.
simply ground the gauge wire turn on the key and the gauge should peg
