928 ROW X-Pipe Install
This is my first post, but a long time reader of this forum.
I have a 1987, 928 that came from Japan, and decided to add a Motorsports x-pipe. Now here's the part of the question that's been asked before but not answered:
Behind the Cat's are two EGT probes that apparently were used to monitor Cat's for high temp but did not effect any other engine operation. A previous post advised that since there were no provisions in the x-pipe to install the EGT's, then hang them above the heat shield and disregard. An engine start test was made, and the "EX" light in the instrument panel began to flash. A suggestion was made to ground the probes, but the dash light keeps flashing.
I have a US version, 1987 owners manual, but there is no mention of the "EX" light. The battery ground strap was disconnected in an attempt to clear the code, but the flashing light continues. I've checked the shop manuals, but so far cannot find an answer to the problem. I would appreciate any help.

I just deactevated one on an '89. It's very simple. Pull the driver side centre console panel, then you'll find 3 or 4 relays laying flat behind the ash tray. The ones that have the teperature rating (800or so F) on them is for the thermo couples. Just pull one at a time and the warning will go out.
