Kickdown switch adjustment?
Today while I was taking out the cruise control brain to try to restore it to life, I looked at the kickdown switch under the accelerator pedal. I have never felt that it was really kicking in like others on here describe their cars responding. I found that the "arm" attached to the accelerator pedal is still just barely not touching the kickdown switch when the pedal hits the floor. Is there a way to adjust the switch height so that the arm can depress and activate the switch? I did not see any way to adjust the arm itself, so I guess that there must be a way to adjust the switch.
Also, since I was in there repeatedly flooring the accelerator pedal with the engine off, will it cause any problems when I go to start the car the next time?? I don't think it will, but I wanted to make sure so that I don't damage anything. |
It turns and lengthens like the throttle ball connections. Take the gas pedal loose, two 10mm bolts at the floor, then turn the assembly a bit so you can see.
Should be one of those funky spring clips that passes through the socket body and keeps it from popping off the ball. |
