Default FS: '79 Project or Parts Car

I stopped in Raleigh to take a look at this car today.

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/1781377489.html

The owner died recently and left his ex-wife as the executor of his estate. She is the one selling the car but gets no proceeds from it. 3 kids, one in college. Sad story.

The good part. It is a 5-Speed, has 83K miles and cranked right up. I did not drive it but the engine sounded strong, no smoke, no stumbling. The body appears straight also. The wheels are decent. Also there is a full set of workshop manuals.

The bad part. The interior is complete crap. I mean bad. It is a 10-15 footer paint-wise. It was originally blue now white. Mediocre job. Overspray here and there. The AC does not work, the passenger door is locked and will not open. The hatch is in the same condition. Minimal records. Only nick-nack repairs here and there. No belts. No water pump.

It was an eBay car that came from Colorado from what I was told. Her ex bought it for $6K.

I told the seller all of the above and she was understandably a little disappointed, but I explained that the car is not special enough to 'restore' and at best it would be a 'driver' or parts car.

She said she would like to get at least $3K out of it. I told her that I would help as much as I could since she clearly out of her element.

So if anyone has interest I took some additional pics today and will be happy to send them to you.

Thanks!
