1987 928 S4 trim removal question
Question:
Does anyone know how to remove the door guard trim and the lower plastic trim cover the bottom edges of the door, and sides of the car?
The black piping that goes around the car driver side window. How are these taken off?
I have already taken off the rain guard and winshield trim, plus the windshield wipper plate.
Any help would be appreciated. Picture.. exmaple would be awesome.
thanks jpc

if your talking about the door bump guard strip.
there is a small nut behind the door seal at its rear end .
and the IIRC front end has a push pin( but lift the seal out of its groove at the front to verify this) before you try to pry off use some blue tape on the door on either side of the strip to protect the paint and some PB blaster sprayed along the top and bottom edges of the strip , let it sit for a 15 mins.
then get a piece of fishing line or thin mechanics wire with a socket tied to each end ( so you have something to hold on to) and slide the line under the molding to remove it from the door.
Warning, pulling the molding back will bend the metal inside it,
then the paint surface will crack if you try to bend it back so be careful.
To remove the rocker panel sill strip with the 928 on it.
First drive the center of the rivet pin into the jamb it will be lost, pull out the rivet.( rivet located at the aft portion of the sill)
Then locate the clear plastic push pin between the 2 and the 8 gently pry up on the sill to get it out of its socket no more than 1/2 inch.
Then lift the inner edge where the sill is on the carpet about 1 inch along the whole edge.
Then slide the whole sill inwards towards the seat this will let the outer clips dislodge from the sill .
then twist the white clips 90 degrees then they will lift out

there is a small nut behind the door seal at its rear end . "Is this inside the door jamb or do i need to take the inside door skin off?"

jpc - I posted some rub strip pics in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=34007
The first pic is of the rear edge of the door where there should be a threaded stud with a nut - access is under the door weatherstrip - no need to remove the interior panel - just peel back a section of the weatherstrip. The second pic is of the front door section - there is a snap-in stud with a plastic receiver in the door. My plastic receiver was broken and didn't grip the stud - I replaced the plastic receiver with new. mrmerlins coments on removing the adhesive (foam tape) are spot on, once the nut is removed. In my case the nut and stud were rusted beyond salvage and the stud broke off.
