As all interesting stories go.. So my wife and I go to Lowes to pickup some lawn care products in the 928 (weekend car)... and on the way out we notice grills are 30% off. We were eyeing this particular grill and now here it is on sale.. so we decide to buy it and I'm wondering how this will fit in the car..
Note to self: 928 has MUCH more interior room for this kind of thing than ANY 928 or my boxster for that matter...

The interesting thing is that this other guy was transporting a grill on a trailer behind her cherokee. Wimps. :-)
Cheers,
Curt

During the Korean conflict General Macarthur had an L-17 assigned to him for moving him around. It is told that on occasion when he would move his headquarters they would remove the canopy from his Navion and stand his refrigerator up in the back seat area and fly it to the new location.
I never saw a picture of it, but I think it could be done.

re: protecting the glass...
I actually padded it with cardboard.. until that flew off on the highway on the ride home. From that point on I just drove very carefully... She (my 928) just basically said (because these cars have a life of their own) "I can handle this all by myself thank you". :-)

The Navion is a airplane the tends to be one that people love or they hate, little middle ground.
I suspect most of the haters have never flown one.
In that respect it is a lot like a 928 for sure.
Which model you got?
And what has been done to it?

This reminds me of a story about my type of airplane. I have a 1950 Navion aircraft made by Ryan Aeronautical. It has a sliding canopy for ingress and egress. The government bought several of them and they were known as an L-17, the "L" standing for liason.
