Wheel/Tire Fitment 86s. 10x18 58mm w/ 265/35/18
I bought a set of Carrera III 10x18 with a 58mm offset for my 86 s. Fitted the rim without the tire and am having some concerns about whether or not I will have clearance inside the wheel well. I am planning on running 265/35/18 Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season tires on the rims. I am replacing the original 8x16’s that were on all four corners.
Has anyone else run this setup on an 86 or older 928 and not had any fitment issues?
I really do not want to roll the fenders.
I do have a spacer (approximately 1”) on the rears. I am assuming that it is a original factory spacer for the 8x16’s.
If I remove the spacer and mount the 10x18 / 58mm rim, the studs protrude way too far to secure the rim and the inside of the rim is at least 1” from the inside of the wheel well. If I keep the spacer on the outside edge of the rim is very close to the fender lip and this concerns me.
Remember that I am fitting the rim without the tire mounted and the right rear of the car jacked up. I assume since the car is tweeked from it being jacked up and the suspension has traveled to is maximum that is has changed visually how well the fitment will be. I am hoping that I am overanalyzing this and that my setup will work.
What I am looking for is if someone has had experience, issues or opinions before I purchase tires and mount them to find it doesn’t work. I am just trying to cover myself so I can exchange the rims for 8x18’s if I need too.
Thanks

You should have enough room, I have ET 65's with the spacer and 275 35 18's and I have about 3/4" clearance at the fender. Your tires are 1 size narrower but the rim will stick out an additional 8 mm. You should be OK. Worst case scenario is you remove the spacers, get a set of open wheel nuts to secure the wheel and put you black closed wheel nuts on after for aesthetics.
