Default '88 S4 for sale

I received an e-mail from a fellow 928 Owners Club member a couple of days ago asking if I knew of anyone who wanted a nice clean '88 S4, as he was selling his (and, he was not associated with, or aware of Rennlist). I volunteered to help out, so am posting his information. As you see from the end of his comments, Earl Gillstrom has worked on the car recently (did the 58K mile work). Earl also told me that it has a "killer stereo installation". I know nothing directly about the car or owner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mark McGarvey is the owners name, and his description is:

"An outstanding example of a California 1988 928S4 automatic with only 59K original miles. I am the second owner of the car. This black on black 928 was purchased by the original owner at Max Dial Porsche in Beverly Hills, California in August of 1988. The car comes with full service history with most of the work performed by Porsche of Beverly Hills and documentation includes the original window sticker. The original owner, a television producer bought the car when he was 48 and kept it for 21 years. Over that period he split his time between Beverly Hills and Paris and he averaged only 2500 miles per year. The car has always been garaged kept with a thick plush car cover (included) protecting the gorgeous the black paint and interior. There are no door or panel dents on the car but there is one paint chip below the rear drivers side tail light, that has been touched up. I had the car fully inspected by Porsche of Beverly Hills and ran a CarFax check before I bought it in 2009. Car interior is virtually like new. Dash is perfect and all other interior pieces are too; no warping or cracks. All electrics work normally. Engine performs great. The car drives great and the servicing is fully up to date. I have had several opportunities to veiw the underside of the car while it has been up on the hoist, and the car looks like new. I have had two Porsche 928 mechanics in the NYC area tell me this is the nicest 928 they have seen in many, many years. This car turns heads wherever it goes.

This car is also a Body Molding Delete car, I believe as a part of the L80K code. Most of the European delivery cars had no body moldings, most of the ones that came to the US had moldings, which ruins the look of the car in my opinion.

The car has had upgrades and enhancements incorporated along the way. Including 17" chrome Porsche cup wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Tread is greater than 50%. The exhaust was modified by a shop in CA and is now has dual chrome tips that look great with the chrome rims. Extensive upgrades were performed on the Audio system including installation of preamps and a 10 disk CD changer, with a Sub Woofer in the rear hatch.

Since I purchased the car the following maintenance has been performed:
Timing belt, new water pump, rear main seal installed at 54K
New belly pans were purchased and installed 54K
New automatic transmission cable installed 54K
All filters (transmission, engine, smog) replaced. 54K
New valve cover gaskets installed, 54K
New transmission oil cooler lines installed 54K
Spark plug wires, plugs, caps, replaced 55K
Brake fluids flushed at 56K
New rear hatch seal installed 58K
New air conditioning components installed - Blows COLD front and rear (has
rear A/C unit) 58K
New O2 Sensor installed 58K
Crankshaft end-play check was performed, and the car is in spec at .007;
PK Clamp was installed to reduce the possibility of thrust bearing failure. 58K
All fuel lines and regulators in the engine compartment replaced 58K
Vacuum lines and HVAC diaphragms replaced as needed, 58K

Car comes with all original Porsche glass, 2 keys, manuals, spare tire. I have the original California license plates too.

Car is located in New York City (has never been driven in snow) and is available by appointment to inspect and drive.

Asking price is $19,995.

Selling the car to buy a vintage track car.

I took some new interior and engine pics of my car, this eve. They should be posted within the next 24 hours on the 928 registry website.

BTW - Earl Gilstrom from the Wilmington area did some work on the car. As you would expect, he has it running like a Swiss watch.

Please contact me at mark_mcgarvey@yahoo.com or at (917) 208-8644 for any further information etc."

Somebody buy this car! All of the folks who complain that they can't seem to find that perfect car, especially on the easy coast, here's a chance to get a completely corrosion-free car. all the maint is up to date. Just needs a silver platter to complete the presentation.
