Default IAC test light (noid type)

Says its for GM 97+ and four pin, but I bought three to play with and see if I can make them work on the 3 pin Idle Air Control valves on my LH cars. $1 plus $2.50 shipping, three of them was $6.50 shipped, so little risked.

That look like a standard GM injector noid light, not sure how you could test a IAC with that.

We have used them for years, almost every mechanic has a set in his box.

So THAT'S what my mechanic was talking about when he said "The noid says your injectors are staying open"!!

Ordered one.

Noid lights are a great tool. Unfortunately they only tell you about the injector pulse, not what the injector is doing. Davek9 and I were working on a felloow 928er's car and the noid light showed the new (e-Bay) injectors were getting pulsed correctly, but for some reason it was missing.

Turned out 2 of the new injectors were not opening up. Man, that took a long time to figure out. Popped in the old injectors and all was well.

(Reader's Digest version - there was more going on)

Purpose of the noid light is to check for signal at the injector, if there is signal, then the injector isn't working. No signal and drive circuit or what feeds it isn't working. Thats trouble shooting, divide and isolate the issue.

*****************

Got mine today in the mail, the connector is nothing like anything on a Porsche, but it does have 4 male square pins that should be easy to slip wires onto to make an adapter. I still don't know how it works, but most of the circuit is visible, 4 pins, 4 resistors, and two LEDs.

Desc below is different from the package which says GM 700 1987 to present IAC with flat 4 pin instead of square connector.

*****************

Item 25145: OEM IAC Signal Test Light.
Item UPC 076812251459

Tests for faulty idle air control valve components
For 1982-91 GM TBI and PFI fuel injection systems with flat 4-pin connectors

Pockitools $25.65
Newark Tools $29.86
Autozone $21.95

*******************

Different device, the actual IAC motor, but same connector is on the test noid.
