Just checked RockAuto... they're now showing them at $20.79.

They had 2 versions listed. One at $20, and then some "bulk pack closeout" at $11. Closeouts must be gone.

Since my order for the AZ valve (same part number) still hasn't shipped. I'm getting nervous that I'm going to get a 'sorry out of stock' email from them, so I figured I'd grab one of these Rock Auto valves as a backup just in case.
I guess I didn't get in before the bell
I have two wine corks securely hoseclamped, so I could conceivably drive like that for the rest of the summer...but I'd like to get a good valve installed and not look back.
I'm hoping that the vacuum module mounted parallel to the inlets doesn't pose an install problem...

The same thing happened to a 928 while at the drag strip. The plastic valve came apart, dumped coolant, the car lost traction, took out one of the timing devices on the track, and went across into the other lane, where it narrowly missed hitting another 928.

The original plastic valve on my car failed, I replaced it with another plastic one, and that replacement one failed in less than a year. After that, I installed one of the metal ones like the one shown for NAPA or Rock Auto earlier in the thread. It's been in there probably close to ten years and still works as it should.

Nice to see RockAuto still sells these AND they're cheaper than they were 8 years ago. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...815505&jsn=251

I am using a Mercedes one that has worked OK so far,... The Merc stock number is A0008305784.

And yes, just like the design specifies: it opens when the vacuum falls.. that is irrespective of temperature selected it opens the heater valve when you switch off the engine. then the heater matrix gets high temp water circulated to it, fine in winter, in hot weather the cockpit is an oven once you restart after a brief halt.

so, for summer use :: insert the marble, or cable tie it shut, or insert another manually operated valve in series. The latter is the option if you can find a space for it ( it's not easy option here in UK as we don't use 3/4 inch auto pipe fittings. Mine is cable tied -
