Default Funny AirCon Behavior

(starting a thread trend)

I was driving down the road and my aircon just stopped.

Fan stopped. Compressor disengaged.

I switched it over to defrost mode (which on mine kicks on the compressor and fan to high) and that blew nice cold air.

Before I start sorting through electrical connections, is there a safety cut off that works on aircon mode but not on the defrost mode? It was pretty hot and humid. Both fans (rad and cond) fans were on and the water temp was at 2/3's (second white mark).

Wally, it's nice it's the simple things most times. I had a new relay sitting around. Swapped it in. Back in business.

I guess 30+ years out of the old relay wasn't too bad!
