To whoever makes these hatch receivers, it would be awesome if you could make these things too:

I would suggest you move the release up a few mm before closing the hatch. 2 small nuts just need loosened and the release moved up slightly. The lip was missing from the old one so the small difference prevented contact with the latch.

Charles
Any detailed picture about the small nuts to be loosened?

We have sold over 1000 of these since 2010. First time I have been asked for instructions however they are obviously needed. Thanks to Mr. Merlin we will add the instructions to each shipment.

If you hatch is squeaking you may want to check the Teflon anti squeak pads on the side of the hatch lid. And yes we stock them.

I finally managed to fit the new insert which I got from an Asian supplier on Ebay (looks identical to that from Roger...). Easy job, literally 5min to remove the old one and fit the new one in place... but I had to get someone to help. The good news is that all of a sudden the electric switch **** now works and it does the job to open the latch... on top I finally managed to get rid of that mysterious squeaky noise which was bothering me since many months... definitely a good result for a little spending.

No Linderpat I simply did not know that Roger was also supplying that part. I bought it on ebay two months before and then I asked for a hint how to install, then I realized that the same parts were sold by Rog, actually slightly cheaper too...

If these hatch inserts are a mystery to install, and it is difficult to figure out, I pity you guys that attempt a timing belt! One of the easiest replacements you can do on a 928. The hardest part is getting the release motor adjusted. Some trial an error involved. With a hatch problem of any sort, always replace the insert as your first step. $30 is cheap to have your hatch functioning correctly!

[QUOTEDid you not see the title of this thread?][/QUOTE]

No dude, I did not see the title because the sequence of events was" I was managing a series of deals on Ebay (not 928 related) but I have "Porsche 928" recorded on ebay as a topic of interest; because of this I saw this seller offering those plastic inserts and I read on his description that it would solve both the electric opening and likely the squeak issue. I then placed the order... it took over 6 weeks for them to be delivered. Shortly before getting them I thought I would heck on one Italian Porsche forum and on Rennlist and that was when I saw Roger's inserts. As simple as this... ;0)

I must be doing it wrong, I just pulled out the old bits and put in the new one. Hatch works fine.

Paddcomp, my old plastic insert was in a much better shape than yours {it am off almost as a one piece...} but yet, fitting the new one in place was easy; the difficulty for me was to push the white plastic center piece down whilst extracting the old part and fittin the new one in but I am sure womeone with more manuality would have managed on his own. In the end the result is just great for the effort... in particular that squeaky noise was really bothering me since many months and I could just dream of such a simple solution

Just installed one of these from Roger. Best result that any 10min job on this car has yielded!!! Hatch now works!
thanks

I did the samething as Vsalvato, and ordered one before knowing Roger, and 928srus.com
I do have a question though. How high should the release pop the hatch up? If my windows are up, I usually pop the release, wait a slight pause, then shut the door to let the pressure push it up slightly. If I do not do this, I can barely get my fingers under the gap to pull it up.
