Viscous fan - stops at idle ?? Is this normal?
Just finished the timing belt. Deleted the Air Pump.
Didn't really drive the car much before doing the Timing belt, but I noticed after replacing the belt with the 20 inch belt (fits perfectly) sometimes the viscous fan doesnt run.
Car hasnt run hot yet, but the question is
Is it ok for the viscous fan to come to a complete stop ?
seems to kick in once the car got to 1/2 on the temp gauge, but maybe im being paranoid.
Thanks in advance.

Even cold the VC should still drive the fan. there will be greater differential between the shaft speed and fan speed when cold than when hot but the fan should still be driven. have you verified that the fan pulley is still turning at idle (the belt has enough tension). obviously thereis no means to tension the belt after the AP delete so you have to rely on the belt being the correct length and V width to properly drive the pulley. what brand and model belt are you running?
Most likely though your VC has leaked its oil out and needs to be refilled.

The pulley still moves, however the fan stopped. Ok I guess its 'park' time. i guess the VC fluid leaked out during the TB Job. Must be somewhat there however, because it does move once it gets 'hot'
