How to prime and paint bumpers?

Most urethane repair kits are needed if you have major repair work to do. If you have a large crack or tear. If all you have is minor scratches/gouges, a high quality body filler will work fine. Use a primer surfacer for plastics so that it remains pliable once dried. If you don't you will still have minor spidering show up in the finish even if you use a flexible additive in the paint. You will need to have a shop spray it for you or buy/rent the proper equipment. You will never get any kind of a decent finish from a spray can. Good luck.

I thought I would finish this thread so in the future when someone searches they will at least find the answer I went with.
After sand blasting the bumpers I used 3M's 5895 plastic repair. Its a 2 part mix that looks and feels like JB weld when its mixed. It drys fast and can be saned within 15 min. I used this to repair all the areas I had. After repairs ( no tears gust scraps ) I shot 3 coats of 2K primer. After wet sanding with 400 paper I painted the bumpers with the base coat just like any other panel. However I did add a flex agent to the clear I used. Its only been a few days but it looks like I have good adhesion and the flexibility is good to go. If I have any problems I will update this thread in the future.
