Default GTS-like isolation air intake useful ?

Hi.
I see the later GTS versions have some kind of isolation round the air-intake tubes.
I presume this is to lower the temperature of the flowing air.
Is it usefull to add some isolation on my '90 S4 intake tubes ???
What material should I use ?

Thanks, Paul

Its for intake noise. They were used in Swiss S4 and GT already.

In support of Vilheur, Porsche conducted tests and found there was negligible temperature reduction; air flow is quick enough that insulation has little effect on inside temp of the tube.

I would stick with the standard tubing - more durable.

I have had a 1990 GT with insulated intake tubes and the insulation crumbels away. I am afraid that the intake air is actually a bit warmer with the less than perfect condition of the almost 20 year old foam.

Absolutely agreed... this is not an upgrade for anyone...
