Default O2 Simulator

Not sure if people know that there are now O2 simulators for Off Roading or Testing. Honest, it is not for those of you eliminating your catalytic converters for an increase HP or Torque

The O2 Simulators lets you remove your catalytic converter without triggering any trouble codes. Can also be used to test if O2 sensor is bad.

Actually, I dropped in to a local Corvette Meet yesterday and 2 of the cars were equipped with them. I got this info from one of them. First time I heard of the product.

Necessary on cars with post CAT O2 sensors (basically ODBII 96+).

These do not work on all cars, but a majority. Some more advanced systems are actually taking a full air / fuel measurment with the secondary O2. These work on cars looking for more of a generic signature that tells the ODBII system the CAT is functioning.

Using these on pre-CAT O2 sensors is not a good idea since the ECU needs those to adjust the mixture.

I think those are just some kind of MIL (malfunction indicator light) eliminators. You won't trigger a trouble on a 928 if you remove the cat.

Cat eliminators will only work on ECUs from about MY00 on down. All the new stuff is too smart to be fooled by them.

That's not entirely true, it's not quite as easy. Those who know how usually don't go around bragging about it.

You can bypass the secondary O2s fairly easily. Just not with $15 JC Whitney simulators that put out ~0.6 +/- .2 Vdc.
