Hi folks,
I saw that a couple of people have mentioned installing Diamond Audio speakers in their doors. Just wondering what models are known to fit.
Thanks,
Paul

The current model for the door speakers is D343.
I went to the DA website and looked up dealers in my area. I called a Houston dealer and they had some of last year's model, D342, which are basically identical. I got a set for about $60. PM me if you'd like to call the place I got them, maybe they still have more and would ship you a set.
I've really enjoyed these speakers.

They have metal tweeters like the MBQ's so they are very bright, but I like alot of high end as long as it's clean. Might be too harsh for some.
I haven't heard many MBQ's, but it would be interesting to compare side by side. I'm driving mine from a 4 channel amp and they can reach about 90% of max volume and still stay very clean and undistorted. You're never gonna get a lot of bass from a 4" speaker but hey, that's what subs are for....(with or without grills that match your wheels :-) )
As I've said before, it's nice to have a new grills on the larger door speaker that matches so closely the stock grill. I don't care for flashy silver grills, just want the black wire mesh and ring so it looks stock. The D342 grills actually look more stock since they have a small silver logo, and the D343's have a small red logo.
One more detail, they are really 4.5 inches, so they are slightly bigger than stock, but do fit in the hole fine, they just compress down a slightly bigger circle in the door panel, instead of fitting into the old compression.

I bought a set of D343 to replace my old boston acoustic speakers made in 1989. The old speakers sounded much better when connected to the diamond crossovers than the diamond speakers. For the money, the D343 are okay but if I knew of the sound quality I would have gladly paid a little more for better speakers. They probably will sound better with an amp.

Hmm... OK, so not so great on the Diamonds, then.
I'm sure the Focal's are great, and I may go that route, though they're more than I really want to spend.
Anyone have any other specific models of speakers they could suggest? Any experience with the Audiobahn ABC4002V's?
Thanks,
Paul
