So as I am working on my newly acquired 1979 928 I am wondering what the interior panels/ seats are covered with.
The seats look leather but I have read somewhere that the backs might be vinyl. The seats also have power adjustments. I assume they are the original seats.
What about the quarter panels? They don't look like leather.
My car interior appears to be cork color but I don't have the option code sticker.
The door panles are faded along the top edge and thye material seems different from arm rest to upper door panel.
Is there a way to get the build option codes using the VIN#?
Any insight as to how these cars came off the assembly line will be greatly appreciated!

I think you can contact Porsche directly if you have a VIN, and they will send you a 'certificate of authenticity' with all the details. I remember my father doing this for his recently acquired (and lost) 356B.

Will they do that on the 928's? If so, that's great! Its always nice to know your cars birthday and how she looked when she came out of the factory. I wonder if they include engine/transmission and axle numbers as well...

post some pictures of what you have. If Nicole checks in, she'll be able to help - she has an extensive knowledge base of these kinds of things.

Just a note - I have a 1978 Euro #530 and sent to Porsche for the Cert. It was nice, but didn't tell me anything new. I was hoping to find the interior options out, but they did not have records.
