I'm having a hard time verifying the cam timing alignment. According to the WSM, there is supposed to be a notch on the cam gears. Not seeing that on mine... Am I missing something?

Maybe its a fuel/control pressure issue? I'm going to test control pressure just in case...

Checked the control pressure. Its 30psi cold, slowly rising to 54psi after warmup and seems to holds control pressure just fine for 30 minutes or so; all appears to be within spec. Since I've owned it I've smelled fuel every so often so I removed the cover to check the filter and accumulator and noticed it was moist. With the engine running it drips, not a lot, but enough to cause concern. Could a leaking fuel accumulator cause my problem? Here's a video:

Replaced leaking fuel accumulator, fuel filter, rebuilt the fuel distributor (actually pretty easy...) and cleaned all the little inline screens prior to re-assembly. Pressures all still seem to be within spec post assembly. But the problem still persists (actually no change what-so-ever). Doesn't seem like fuel delivery is an issue as I can smell the unburnt fuel.

Which leads me to think its on the ignition side of things. Took the TSZ switching unit (believe thats what its called) out and checked for burnt resistors, caps, diodes, etc and did notice a couple that appeared faulty. Could a faulty TSZ unit allow the car to run like you see in my video?

Please help!!!

Default Solved!

A local shop finally found and fixed this problem for me: a faulty EGR valve! When they fail, the symptoms are very similar to a vacuum leak (a nasty issue for our cars). Mechanic just disabled it for the short term, but now its a question of removing or replacing.

Suggestions?
