What does this sound like?
'87+ engine. "Timing belt" warning comes on after 30-40 miles of spirited driving. Reset it and continue driving (I know, I know), and it doesn't come back on.
Does that sound to you like a dry tensioner, adjusting slowly to the heating of the block? Or something else?

Check the tension and adjust it to high tension side of window if using a Kemph Tool.
Check condition of belt WYIT.
Add oil to the tensioner as per WSM instructions and check for oil leakage.
Run a Digital Dash diagnostic and you can ascertain whether the timing belt tension alarm is being triggered momentarily, as there is a 3 minutes delay built into the system., You need to know whether you are getting continual initial alarm activation that could indicate that the timing belt tension is on the low side.

Hi
Sounds to me like a wrecked engine unless you find out !!!
I had it happen to me once and the engine boiled as water pump was not being turned enough....
Once was enough...I would NEVER DRIVE ON if it came on now....
All the best Brett
