Default Relay diffuculty! Any Ideas

I was told by my technician (Greg from Precision) to replace the DME and fuel pump relays in my 1990s4. I got new ones but these relays are really difficult to get to because they are all the way on the right of the panel in very tight quarters.

I tryed to pull each on out buy my fingers are too fat and I think these are original equipment so they are stuck pretty good.

I know this might sound stupid but does anyone know of an easier way to get them out. Is there a tool made or something. I want to be very careful and not brake anything.

Any ideas.

A couple paint can lid tools from Home Depot/Lowes/wherever will do the trick. These are the little steel tools with the end flattened then bent over a little. I bent mine a little more so they are almost 90º. They reach down between the relays, and with a little jockying they are under the base. Just roll the tools and the relay lifts out. Since the tools are metal, it makes a lot of sense to disconnect the battery ground strap at the rear before prying under the relays near the otherwise-live pins.

JPC
I have a couple of right angled screw drivers (similar to allen key with the head at right angles to the shaft with one end has the screw drive in axial alignment to shaft and the other end at 90 degrees to the shaft).

These are just great to remove relays.

+1 to dr bob's advice regarding disconnecting negative lead on battery.

Just remember to disconnect the battery before pushing a metal tool under the relays, or you may cause havoc down there...

Edit: ohh it's already mentioned, but it doesn't hurt to repeat it
