Regardless, IMHO it has no place on a 928 engine, how hard is it to use what the manufacture wants used?
If I can get it in Sharpsburg, my guess is you can get it anyplace.

OK, I'll conceed that it is "Room Temperature Vulcanization", but when I hear "RTV" I think silicone, not rubber. My experience is that the rubber works better, generally speaking.
True, Porsche calls for an anerobic sealant like loctite 574, and I actually have a tube of it at my house. I think the first time I did this job I didn't have it and so I used the rubber permatex. So far so good (3-years now). Then when I did the '87 I just went from memory. Had I re-read the WSM, I probably would have used the 574 or similar product.

I was just saying that it feels different to me, that is all, the volvo stuff looks pink like the 574 to me, the MB stuff is red, the Curic is yellow.
With all the private label stuff going on it is hard for me to tell what is what any more.
A 25$ tube of sealant is cheap compared to redoing a job where this is needed, so I just buy the factory stuff.
