No. I injured my right hand on Tuesday night moving boxes & a computer from one room to another. Can't do anything for a while. My wrist is all fouled and the hand is swelled from a computer monitor landing on it.

I also couldn't wrap it up this weekend. At least I know the grounds are cleaned. The MAF connector is the only thing that needs to be done along with rewiring my NB AFR gauge.

On fixing the MAF connector, I shortened mine by maybe an inch to get good wire and still fit fine and allowed enough manuverability to the MAF. I should have soldered but just crimped. No issues for last few weeks.

I'm diving into it again this Saturday since I'll be in town. Gonna get this settled once and for all. I'm considering cleaning up MPVIII even though it looks pretty damn clean already.

I also bought a bunch of that black plastic flex loom to cover up the wiring harnesses to protect them as much as possible from heat.

Those grounds can bite you in the ***! Did for me. I'd put a little blut loctitie on the bolt to make sure it doesn't back out.

I'd hold-off on the loom. One thing at a time! Get some operational satisfaction out of it before you start tugging on that harness anymore.

I owe you guys lots of pictures. I didn't get the chance to upload them this weekend. The MAF connector repair went smoothly. I am however worried about the crimps and if I did them right. Yea sure it seems like it's just pushing the wire in and applying pressure to the terminal to clamp the wire down. A cheap *** universal crimper may not hold it that well. I had to redo at least 2 crimps because the wires slipped out of the crimp! I double-checked and triple-checked the crimps though prior to pushing the connectors into the MAF harness. I feel like I should have soldered them, but I didn't. I hope that won't affect anything...

I would not rely on crimps, especially from the crimper you are describing!

If you used a crimper thats jaws look like this () then it will not hold the wire for long and it will leave you stranded when one or more pull out. It will also mess with the mixture.

I recommend going back in there and using solder and heatshrink.

How can I go back in there if they are already locked into the connector? What do I do to pop the terminals back out of there?

Something like this "molex pin extraction tool"

Here is the weekend's update:

I had completed the repair and rebuild of the MAF connector as supplied by Roger

I decided to chop further down the harness and found the white wire burned in an area. There must have been some sort of contact that shorted in the area and burned. I check the wire and sealed up good with shrink tubing.

Pictures are below:

Here's today's update:

I have installed the MAF and left the airbox off the car. After about 4 weeks, the car started again, sputtering and with the idle fluctuating and hunting between 900 and 500. It settled after about 25 seconds to just below the 800 mark, maybe around 750. Lifters are ticking like crazy since the oil has drained out. My air fuel ratio gauge started oscillating back and forth between rich and lean. I'm guessing that is the O2 loop being recognized after about 2 minutes of running.

Now this is today's start approximately 4 minutes after warm up.

Mine ran great for about 2,000 miles, then at lunch it hunted the idle on start up for just a minute, so I guess mine still has something going on.
Every ground has been cleaned on the car, all new ends crimped, soldered, and heatshrinked, new ends on Temp II, MAF, IAC and TPS, new IAC, O2 and TPS.
If it does it again I am going to go to the other ends of the harness and replace the ends.
