Default Seat Cores --- don't discard

I've been tempted myself, to make space.

But the last 2 days I've been rebuilding a couple S4 seats.

The mechanical construction of these seats is sheer artwork.

Recovered with quality leather, they should last another 25 years, at which time they could be rebuilt again I think.

No wonder Paul Champagne is willing to work with old seats as his "canvas".

Store them, hold them, give them to somebody else, but don't discard them to the dump or wrecker or they will be lost forever.

Do the back sections pop out of the seat? If so, I want to swap my driver and passenger back sections. Driver's side is too soft and kind of worn out.

Yes, you can swap them. The power cord going to the seat back motor will be on the other corner but you won't even see it

I'm not sure, but, the PET lists the molded foam parts separately with part numbers.

I wonder if Roger can supply via Porsche?

The innards have to be in-demand, they are clearly custom molded for this seat.

Hey, this is an interesting thread !

I want to replace the cushions in the center section of the driver seat (not seatback) and also the left side cushion, as they are compressed / start to crumble.

I have been through tje seat PET (see it here: www.karrera.net) but have not been able to locate the cushion parts. Anybody managed to find the part numbers ?

I intend to reuse the leather, just need to paint it.

Ragnar,

The part numbers for all the foam are in there, I just looked in your link.
The construction is such that the seatback has a single piece that constitutes the left and right bolsters plus the head rest. Molded piece. If its available at all, it must be via porsche. Sportseat foam is also listed. And the non-woven covers that are placed over some of the foam and under the leather.

The center back piece is thinner and its also listed. For instance, 911-521-104-02 for one of the earlier cars.

I forget what year is your car.
Go to the 928 PET for your year range, then section on body, then scroll-down to the seats. Lots of pages of leather colors, but page through you will find the cushion foam parts.

I wonder how $$$ this stuff is.

I looked too and only saw the seat coverings, not the cushion.

OK. In the link, try Body, Section 800(seats), then illustration #808-25
Thats for 82.

For 83-86, try 808-21 and 808-22 for sport seats foam.
I don't see the backrest foam for the normal seat in this PET.

Lets keep looking and also somebody ask Roger.

All PET-pdfs I have and PET7.1 only lists individual parts for seats pre S4.

Agreed. For S4, it refers us to something called catalog STZ-18. Don't know what that is.

But the cushion parts have to be available!

Guys, go back to the link, go to the place where you select which car ( 356, 911, etc). There is a section called additional catalogs. Open that, there is a seat catalog. Maybe its in there. Yes, definitely in there, confusing organization, like models all repeat as you step back through the years, but S4 foam is in there.

Yes I found it.. Damn I'm bored at work today

Seems like they differs between with and without seat heating and back support (M 139 / M 586 / M 340 / M 513). Foam for seats with these option was found in my swedish pricelist from september 2008, they will probably fit seats without as well, costs 1259 SEK incl vat (approx $175) back then but there has been some raises since.
