LH failure ?

Thanks for the info, guys!
My mechanic confirmed - by what sounded like a "noid light" - that the injectors opened and stayed open, not clicking open/closed.
I will try to find someone in the area with a spare LH...

Try pulling the LH connector (the big one, with the cable) and see if the injectors still hang open. If so, it isn't the LH, its a short to ground in the wire harness...

I think this is the first report I've heard of an already-rebuilt LH unit suffering a failure. Maybe someone else will chime in with more episodes. I have a rebuilt unit in the car (from Rich Andrade) and a similar rebuilt LH spare on the shelf. I wasn't under any impression that I needed to worry about subsequent failure, or any need to carry the spare rebuit spare brain, at least with the now non-spare rebuilt unit installed in the car.

While related, your problem/sysmptoms are different from Jon's. Might be worth opening a new thread to make searches easier for future victims. Just a suggestion.

Just make sure you put them in the correct way around - IIRC they can go in either way but only one is correct.
(Unlike computer processor chips which are normally assymetrically pinned so they won't go in the wrong way around unless you use a BFH)

Correct fitting is clearly shown in the ST2 User Manual, just make sure all the pins are lined up correctly i.e no "spare" pins at either end.
I thought you had already fitted the PEMs ?

It's OK guys, I was joking.
I fitted the PEMs to my '88 just fine, and it even ran afterwards
ST2 reported that all the sensors were working fine as well.
Next is the '89 - and I don't anticipate any issues with that either.
The PEMs will only go one way - well you COULD install them backwards, but then they would hang over the outside of the LH or EZK circuit board, and they definitely won't go back into the box that way.

Did you get a baseline dyno sheet before sharktuning?
My ST2 is sitting in its box still - I bought it for my '89, but I'm considering sharktuning the '87 as the '89 is up on stands and will be for a while.

Er Steve, you do realise that a Sharktuner won't be able to put your steering wheel on the correct side?

Oh well, I'll just have to buy another 928 then - maybe the third is the charm.
I haven't actually changed anything yet, neither in the mechanicals nor in the electronics. A baseline dyno is a good idea though, so I'll have to add it to the budget. For the moment, I am just relieved to see that ST2 believes that all the sensors are working OK.
