Recomendation on 928 seats
Hi
I am looking for a 928, from 89 and onwards, and for me it seems like there are tre different kinds of seats.
Sport seats, normal seats and 12-ways adjustable seats.
I have heard that the sport-seats is not so good (a bit soft in the middle), is this true? And what are the preferred seats for a 928.
I might use the car on track days, but usually in normal traffic, so sports seats might be good if the comfort is good, and 12-ways if side-support is good, if you see what I mean.
Looking forward to hearing from you

There is absolutely no difference in structure between a sport seat and a comfort seat, other than the side bolsters.
The frames are the same and the seat insert construction is the same. The middle support therefore is the same.
And a 12 way is not a different seat, it's just a standard comfort seat with more options added. The added option is lumbar, so that does make a difference in comfort on long trips. But otherwise the seat is exactly the same.

Although hard to find, I really like the sport seats. I've always felt very secure in my 928, and the way the sport seat side bolsters sort of wrap around your ribcage enhances that feeling, IMO.

I've had essentially all the types of seats, except those with supple leather (a nice feature). It truly depends on how you will drive the car. The comfort seats are very comfortable for normal driving, and the lumbar feature is always nice - I find it helpful to fit my contours on long trips (300 miles or more). But, the 12 way seats are extremely rare (and very heavy if you are going to do much track driving). I have the 12 way power/heated seats in my '94 GTS.
I had sport seats in one car, and they were great while driving, but were a bit more difficult for getting in and out of the car without rubbing the bolster a lot. I also used that car for track driving, and found the sport seat only marginally better for spirited track driving. And, they really aren't satisfactory for a 5-6 point harness, as PCA now requires the pass through seat for the shoulder belts. I now have a set of Recaro racing seats with adjustable backrest and 5 point harness that work great for just driving to, from, and ON the track (and quite lightweight) in my '89 track car. They - like sport seats - are a good bit more difficult for ingress and egress.
So - in my opinion - it gets back to how you are going to use the car. Others may have different experiences, so keep watching for responses to your question.
