Seat conversion wiring compatibility 1985 seats to 1984 car.
Bought a pair of seats from a wrecked 1985 MY. Mine is a 1984 MY.
I removed my passenger seat and found that the wiring connections are different.
My car has a two wire feed to the seat with a differing connection set-up.
The donor car seats have a 6 pin connector. In addition, the two seats from the 85 differ in that the driver's seat has an additional, two pin connector on a separate wire. The passenger seat does not have this. (??????)
Can someone guide me through what I need to do to adapt these new seats to my car's format?
I would appreciate all you can offer up.
Thanks,
Allen in Allentown, PA

I guess that I should have mentioned that the two donor car seats have the heated seat option and that they are the 2 4-way switches (round).
I checked around at all the other seat wiring posts but found no answer.
Anyone?

Allen,
all the Porsche seats of that era are Recaro.
The easiest way for you to wire the seats to your car is simply to bring the positive (red) and negative (brown) from the car to the main poles of the seat connector.
The most elegant way of doing it is buying the appropriate connector block for the car.
The free plug with 2 wires on the driver's seat is probably the seat belt receptacle.

The wires that supplied power to the original seats seems like a small gauge to power the seat heating aspect of the new seats. Do I need to run some heavier gauge wire to supply more current without taxing the existing?
Is the heat for the seat in fact delivered by the same connection as the seat adjustment power supply?

Others here will be much more efficient than I to guide you in the electrical aspect.
