I looking into purchasing a set of used 993 wheels. Will this fit my 1982 928 without any clearance or fitment issues? Thanks.-BigMike

Front: part# 993.362.134.06 - 7.5J x 18 ET50 equipped with 225/40 ZR18

If my memory is correct, they will fit perfect. These are off a non turbo, narrow body ,993 right?

I just installed Cup II wheels on my '82 today. There's no problem with fitment at all, those wheels will really fill out the fenders.

These wheels are completely the wrong offset for the 928. They will physically fit, but are much too low of an offset. I wouldn't go lower than ET55 on the front of the 928. The factory wheels were all ET65 apart from the 8" Club Sports which were ET60. There is a reason for that.

These wheels will reduce the stability of the car significantly, particularly in situations where the front wheels are experiencing different levels of grip.

I'd pass.

These wheels are not Porsche Wheels. No Cup II's were manufactured in 18" . These are most likely a set of the Mille Migilia Cup II knock offs.

Be advised they are of a much softer alloy, are prone to bend and crack easily. I know because I and others, JWise, have been wrestling with these issues on the sets we purchased used. I'd stick with the stock Cup II GTS wheels. They are strong and fit without concern.

With that said, I am looking for a second set of the 18" Mille Maglias for my other car. I'm willing to to buy them despite the issues stated above. I know I will need to have them trued, cracks rewelded and painted/powdercoated. These I would use for easy driving.

I fully agree !

And on top of that I would not increase the width of the rears without a proportinally similar increase up front. The 928 is from birth understeering and I can not see any point in increasing that property, on the contrary. I use my car 90% road and 10% track/autocross, and I am going from my current 8" fronts and 9" rears to 9" front and rear, simply to reduce the oversteering. Whether it will be any good I do not know yet, but I definately would not go in the opposite direction.

Andrew's wheel fitment spreadsheet - both simplified and complicated my life at the same time.

Just for your consideration, I have a set of the 996 hollow spoke Turbo Twists on my '85, 18x8 and 18x11 that I'm looking to get rid of. You'll need to roll the fender lips under in the back though, because of the 295 Pirelli Corsa's back there.

I'm considering this setup on the 83 Euro I just bought. Would dropping the tire width to 285's fit without rolling the lip? Also, do the fronts stick out past the fenders at that width? I am going to have to wait a couple of months to do it as I just tore into the TB and water pump job on my 951, but am researching now so I can do the wheel upgrade without problems. Thanks,

I haven't heard about 285's, but a lot of people have posted that they use 275's with no issues. The fronts are just flush with the fenders, and I only experience tramlining on a few roads that are pretty bad.

Here's an image that should let you see how the fronts fit

Thanks, that gives me a little better idea of what I would be looking at. I didn't realize nobody makes 285's, just figured 10mm narrower would work. Thanks again.

BIGMIKE, sorry about stepping on your thread. Good luck with your setup.
