Funny enough, that's what half of my office said
P.S. The sight of your GTS in the background of your pic has just made me feel better about the thousands I'm spending correcting my car's previous custodianship! Mine is Iris Blue and yours is the spitting image of how I want mine to look when it's finished!

Mine burns just a little.
I did talk to Greg Shickle and he said his totally stopped burning ANY oil after 150K!!
I think these engines start to break in well after 100K and then they just get started!!!!

My '92 with 135k miles still burns quite a bit...no more than the manual says, but it does not seem to have slowed down or sped up...
My '94 is the same as it has always been since I got it at 33k miles... burns oil by the book... can't complain to much when it is doing what the factory says it should do.

Just to clarify, the oil is not 'burned' - it is blow-by as others have indicated.
Earlier mine would use a litre every 600 miles, but since going over 150K miles I add a litre every 1500 miles.
The ProVent is a great solution for lower mileage GTS'.

Did your dad by any chance use premium unleaded (95 RON) (or even regular 91 RON) and you use only Super? (98 RON)
Referring to the previous owner (Dad), he'd topped it up with a litre about every month, when he was commuting into London, on about 20 miles a day in heavy traffic, so slightly less usage mile for mile.
Recently, it's almost completely stopped using oil (and no it's not empty ). I've covered about 1000 miles over the last few weeks and it's barely moved off the top notch of the dipstick.
Is it broken?

I burn about a quart every 500miles in my GT; from what I can remember from reading previous threads, it seems like there's controversy about whether GTs are afflicted to the same degree as GTSs with blow by. Would that be correct or is there some consensus about this? Mine spits out a puff of black smoke if I shift at 6k rpms (daily occurrence--gotta love on ramps). I've been contemplating a Shark Vent but reluctant to spend the $$ unless I had some relative assurance that it would likely help my problem...

Mine burns a quart between 600-800 miles. Used to be every 500 miles like clock work. At about 80K miles it went down to the current. The smoking out the tailpipe was always there under heavy acceleration. Installed the Pro-vent and the smoke is almost completly gone. Currently have 94K on it. Guess I need to drive it more, 150K is not that far away.

I burned a quart every 800 miles when I was really into putting my foot into it but it was amazing when I drove reasonable it is every 2000 miles......
I dont really understand why making the engine work harder should make it burn more though??
Is it because the chamber pressures go up then pressurize the crank case then oil leaks up into the cylinder from the lowest ring on the piston or is it just worn valve guides?

mine is a 1992 and uses maybe half a liter in 6 months. 114k on the odo. And spirited driving is mixed with regular commuting. So no reason to worry about.
It was said that many GTS use lots of oil. I was pretty nervous at first, when I bought the GTS as my S4 was almost perfect.
Roger may be right about the Provent, it seems that a lot of oil vapor is sucked into the intake at high rpm and burned. A decent oil seperation could help. There was a thread on this a while back.
