the heat and the smell of vapors
yesterday took my car out returned, shut the garage door and my daughter came in and said she smelled gas.
sadly it was the porsche.
last year in fall i had the same problem dropped tank went through every line no leaks but changed gasket on filler neck problem fixed.
the smell is back the gasket ( o ring) is fine zero leaks now what ?
car does not have carbon canistor 85 euro
and the car only has a 1/4 tank of gas. there are no traces of any run down and nothing is leaking from the fuel pump or fuel filter.
the smell is very strong when you open the fuel door .
the mounting tab also has no traces of fuel .
it all started when the temps went above 85 degrees
help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's probably venting from the missing charcoal canister. We ended up removing it because of an issue that caused it to fill with gas on my wife's BMW, and with the canister removed (even once the problem was fixed) on hot days you'd get a couple of drops of fuel and a gassy smell, even parked outside.

i understand a smell coming from the direct vent behind the tank but the small is coming right in the filler area . and yes i did change all the hoses and all is correct and tight .

Maybe so - if you're certain it's the filler area and you're certain that the grommet isn't leaking, you're pretty much stuck with it being the gas cap. I would expect some gas smell from the filler area just because there's usually a vent as part of the filler (to let air escape while filling.)
