Default Front fender installation: What Sealant?

I will soon be in the process of reassembling the right front corner of my 85. The original fenders where installed with some sort of sealant strip (#2 and #3 in the attached PET image). Is there an alternative I can pick-up locally, or should I order some from one of the vendors?

I've seen that at body shop supply stores. A think bead of RTV silicone will do the trick, too. The trick being to prevent vibration.

I would not use RTV, nothing to back it up, but every time I see RTV on sheet metal it seems to rust really bad there.

RTV generally uses acetic acid as a curing agent, so it's not a good idea to use it for this. Plus it's a chore to adjust panels if they are glued in place. The local body shop supply/ auto paint store wil have what you need.
