Looking for a GTS, preferably in automatic, low miles, excellent condition. Any leads would be appreciated. I am in San Diego, and willing to travel for the right one. PM me please

What do you consider low miles and what kind of a price range are you looking for? We have seen car with just shy of 100k miles go for $27kish and we have seen 6700 mile versions go for just over $100k! Big range there...

Good question, I guess by low miles I am looking for less than 50k. Price range you quote is obviously large, I did see the $100k plus car on another 928 site. That is considerably more then I want to spend. I am looking for a nice, reliable daily driver. Sound engine, transmission and good paint. Price range in the $25k to $40 range. Willing to buy a car that needs its maintenance to be brought up to speed. Hope this helps. You seem to have quite a few, any photos of your grand prix GTS that you can link provide a link to.

You do realize that total worldwide GTS production was less 3,000 cars which means that the pool is quite small and often they are owned by long time 928 enthusiasts who intend to keep them FOREVER ! They do pop up from time to time with very nice examples selling for what they are worth !

Max,

My '94 has been off and on the market over the years...out of your numbers though. 54k miles and I would never take less than $44k if I would sell it at all...I love it!

Here are some pics of a pretty damn nice 928 GTS (it won the street class Concours at the 928 Owners Club International Convention in the summer of '09!), enjoy them!

James,
That is not an unreasonable price, how serious are you in selling? If you are lets take this to PM and exchange numbers.

For excellent condition, its worth checking out what Michael Wilhoit has in stock..

http://www.willhoitenterprises.com/inventory.htm

He makes a habit of hunting down and selling pristine examples.

Max,

If I don't start making money again pretty soon I will actually become serious, but frankly I am not serious right now. I like having 2 GTS's really.

That Wilhoit car does in fact look really nice. About the same miles as mine but lacking $1500 in Paul Champagne interior and who knows if it was enthusiast owned, but if you like silver (and it is even easier to keep clean than white...my '92 is Polar Silver, so I KNOW!) this would be a pretty good car to go after I think.

Thanks so much...I never thought $44k was unreasonable for a car as nice as mine either, but no one jumped at it back when I was more serious (and employed...how is that?!) about selling it.

Keep us posted! You will not be disappointed with a GTS! They are FREAKING AWESOME!!!

Max: When you say "Daily Driver" - what does that mean? a few miles hiway/freeway and covered parking, or lots of stop and go and the car sitting in the sun all day?

The reason I'm asking: The interiors of the 928 - as many leather interiors - don't hold up to heat and UV all that well, and it would be kind of sad to see one of the last low mileage GTS models wasted in a stressful daily grind.

That is not to say you can't do what you want with the car you buy, but if it will live a stressful life, it might be more economical to buy a less rare and significantly less expensive S4. If that doesn't offer you enough power, you are not too far from someone who can fix that: Doc Brown in Anaheim.

Again, it depends on your expectations, driving habits, and budget.

Best of luck in finding "the right" 928!

James,

That's a nice steering wheel. Do you have pics where you mount the Amplifier.
