Damn sunroof switch just quit!
Took the car onto the driveway for a wash. My 3 year of boy had a blast spraying it down. When I backed the car into the garage, my boy wanted to open the "thing" on the roof so he did. As he was playing with the switch, I noticed he was trying to close it but the sunroof did not move. I thought his little hand was not strong enough so I tried it. The switch still makes the clicking and draws current in the open direction but dead in the close direction. The switch was working perfectly before and it just died without any warning at all.
Got on eBay and found the sunroof switch to be a $50 item while the window switch is only $25. Does anyone know if they are the exact same things except for the graphics? Could the old plastic plate with the graphics be transferred to the new switch?
Took out the sunroof tool and went to take out the rear sunroof cover. I wish the screw was a cross/Philip since it is quite tight. There is black oil inside the coupling so one should have some paper towel handy to clean up afterwards. I think everyone should learn to remove that cover at least once just in case you have to do it in the dark. I put a few pieces of paper towels inside the cover when I reinstalled the cover.

Why not pry the switch open and clean it? That usually works if the raised plastic fulcrum inside the switch cover is still intact. You have nothing to loose. I'm like you, let the kids mess with them. They love the flip up lights.
