Default HARD START, NOISY FUEL PUMP..

I had trouble starting my car today, when it did start it sounded like it was hitting on about four cyl, sputtered and wouldn't rev up then die. It finally cleared up after starting it a couple times and reving it up. Then I noticed I could hear the fuel pump running while sitting there idling. I've never heard it running before. When I got home I swapped out the fuel pump relay to see if it would make a difference. It didn't. It seems to start and idle ok this time, but I still hear the fuel pump. It ran great screaming down the interstate, the only problem was starting, and hearing the fuel pump running. Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to get her ready for the run to SITM. I reserved a room at Best Western last week, no problem, still had rooms. Thanks

probably flooded it first . . remedy is to hold the pedal to the floor till it starts.
How much fuel is in the tank??
Try running adding a bottle of Techron to the gas

They sing when they get close to death.

(jk)

But yeah, they do more noise as they age.
Like some people I know...

Mine is telling me it's getting close to the time to change it.

That's just great! I'll have to check, but it seems like I changed the pump about 20,000 mi. ago...

I might be wrong...
But I quickly learned that weird noise are never good in a car.

did you ever sort out the problem? im finding a little struggle on my car when i let it idle, it feels like not enough gas is going in then revs bouce back up, after a little while it stabilizes. it does start well enough, just does this from time to time even during a regular run, when i stop at a traffic light.

Recently had a similar occurrence. I let my Dad take it out after I'd been driving around all day with no problems. It wouldnt start for him and when it finally started it idled pretty rough for a few seconds.

It drove fine after that and has been fine for a couple hundred miles since. I think it just doesnt like him. Kind of like a 'Christine' moment.
