Default Distributor Primary Shaft Lubrication

Disassembled my single distributor. So how is the primary shaft lubricated? Use DISTRIBUTOR GREASE? http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...butor%20Grease
FYI No bearings in the housing, just bushings.

The distributor grease in the link is for lubing the cam in a points type distributor. Distributor shafts usually get lubrication from oil splash off the cam gear.

Yea thats what I figured the grease is for pivot points. The shaft is sealed top and bottom with fiber washers to prevent splash oil from entering and rising to the rotor area.

Ok to wrap this up, ZEUS+ you are 100% correct. The drive gear sits in a pool of engine oil that is cork-screwed up the primary shaft lubricating the lower and upper bushings. Crude, I don't know why after 28 years the the bushings aren't worn but it works.

Notice on the bottom of the housing their are 3 holes. These holes allow the oil that reaches the top bushing to drip out of the distributor housing, running down the left cam tower, down the left side of the block, into your alternator slowly killing it.

Now if you are boosted. The oil weep from the top bushing becomes exaggerated with the blowby.
