Default Unhappy Flappy

Μ-ŦÒ¥ÜĦ Flappy failed it's test. It is not stuck, the solenoid gets vacuum and voltage is present at the solenoid at startbup (logic ok). It also clicks and allows vacuum through if given 12v (solenoid working)

With a Mightyvac or even sucking on the vac line going to the flappy it only moves about 10 degrees.

If this means that the diaphragm is bad, is this a complete dealer part?Everything had checked out ok last year when I did the manifold R&R.

This car is truly a labour of love.

if your asking this question then you must have missed the part where it says to replace the flappy pot when you RnR the intake.
\ You might try removing one of the side panels and inspecting the flappy to see is one of the screws has fallen out of the flap prior to intake removal

Do a leak down on the flappy itself, if it holds vacuum, then the diapham isn't likely the problem. If it doesn't then the diapham has given up the ghost, (Or the lines have cracked or separated).
Parts are all available from Roger @ 928s R Us, much more reasonably than from a dealer. I would expect that they're also available from the other major suppliers here too.
Still, check if it holds vacuum first, then dig deeper. Rotation of the shaft should be =/- 85 degrees though. (After allowance for stop nut etc.).

Stans advice is reasonable if you consider all is bad beyond a certain age or mileage.

I did the intake project and didn't replace the flappy, ISV or the TPS but i did test them all. My assumption was and is if the part works then why replace it unless it may leave you stranded.

My perspective and your $$$

I did test them all when I did the R & R. The flappy was happpy back then. At that time I put a new ISV in too. In hindsight I should have replaced the flappy even though it was good. It does not hold vacuum. I will remove one of the panels tomorrow. Guess I'll be contacting 928's R US tomorrow also.

Thanks everyone.
