i had powder coated my hubs (dumb move) and when i stuck my new cups 4's on i could not get them on all the way and they got stuck... basically had to beat the wheel from the inside with a rubber mallet for about 15 min. then when i had a big enough gap, i used a pry bar between the hub and wheel. popped right off after that,
Broke them free! I put the car back down, attached 2 lugs opposite each other on each wheel and left them loose by 1/8" or so, drove out of the driveway and around the cul de sac, they got loose then. Pulled into garage and pulled them off. Now to remove the powder coat from the mating surfaces and will use anti seize when they go back on.
Thanks for all the good tips!
Sorry to be a bit late in catching your problem. I've had this problem with a Mercedes with spacers. First time - impossible to get off. I loosen all five lug nuts about 2-3 turns, then slowly drive along the driveway while turning the steering wheel back and forth a lot. About 25 feet, and they are all loose. Only solution I could find after prying, hitting, and even maybe swearing a little bit!!
Cheers,
