Removing front bumper cover
Hey all,
does anyone have a write up for removing the front bumper cover?
If not, are there any attachment points hidden or difficult to get at?
Thanks
Paul

remove both of the fender block off plates and the fender liners then take some PB blaster and spray all of the bolts then use a Tooth brush to scrub off the dirt from the bolts then spray them again use an 8Mm with a universal joint and you should be able to get all of the nuts off , you may also have to raise the headlamps to get the front top nuts off

Sometimes there are screws fitted vertically upwards from underneath roughly either side of the radiator opening.
Don't forget the 5 screw along the top edge under the front edge of the hood. do these last.
The nuts in the wheel well are all eccesible with a selection of 1/$" drive extensions, ratchets and universal joints - nothing too esoteric.
Removing front PU is guicker than removing the wheel well liners.
Don't forget to get new beading strips for the fender/PU joins on reassembly
Have an assitant to hand when you remove the PU to hold it while you disconnect the wiring and headlight washer hoses - I don't think they're long enough let the PU rest on the ground while you fetch the correct screwdriver for the hose clamps.
While you have the PU off it's a good time to remove the fog/driving light assemblies and make sure that the securing screws for the lenses can be readily removed - it's a lot easier to epoxy in a new captive nut while the units are on the bench if the old nuts have got stripped.

Paul-
On each side there's one nut immediately ahead of the headlight (the 'front top' nuts Stan is referring to)- with the headlights up they are more easily removed (and reinstalled) with an 8mm gearwrench. Even with U-joints etc there's not much room for a conventional 1/4" drive socket in there.

love those things
I had no idea when I bought my first set, just how useful they would turn out to be.

Reviving an old thread here as I need to access/fix the headlight squirter tube connections.
I have an '83 USA "S", so it has the front spoiler. Is there any need to remove the spoiler, or for that matter the "grill" piece, to get the bumper cover off?
Thanks,
Rick

yes spoiler comes off after the front block off plates are removed
Grills also come off when you remove the spoiler
