Default Fuel line "coating"?

Does anyone know what the inside of the factory S4 fuel lines is coated with, and if it will flake or peel off with the presence of higher alcohol content or additives?

Thanks

iN 1988 rubber hoses were replaced by rubber-lined, polyamide pipes. {olyamide is a plastic, whis is produced from carbons, phenol and nitrogern.

These hoses cannot be handled in the same manner as the rubber hoses.

1. Polyamide pipes may not be bent as this will damage the pipes premanently.
2. Polyamide pipes cannot be clamed shut.
3. Connectors are pressed in with a great amount of force. Repairing these parts in not possible.

Rubber-lined, polyamide pipes can be rocognised on the outside by the loose fittings or missing sleeves.

I cannot definately answer your question whether the rubber of the linings will be affected by a higher alchol or additives.

I would look as the MSDS (material safety data sheets) regarding the alcohol and additives for the affect on rubber.

Yes Roger, I am curious what material is on the inside of our hard metal fuel lines that run along the underbody of the car. I will have the opportunity to replace mine (if necessary) next weekend when I pull the torque tube and trans again. The fuel lines will be the last component in the chain that I will not be modifying - and since everything else is alcohol friendly, if the stock lines aren't, it would make sense for me to replace them too so I can play with fuel in the future.
