1985 5 speed value ?
I am looking at a 1985 5 speed with 125000 miles that has been hit in the passenger door. The only other damage is the roof is rolled at top of door and pushed the windshield out of the frame. Was told the A pillar is fine.
Mechanics are great with loads of receipts. TB done 4 years ago. The really nice thing is the interior is ALMOST MINT. Seats, dash and pod....looks brand new.
Has 996 wheels...porkens chip...color is white metallic gold with brown interior. Original radio.
It will need a passenger door, door glass, windshield and paint to match. It has a GOOD title.
Whats it worth????
Im looking at this for my son Garrett...so you guys give a brother a chance.

$1500-$2500 from here.
Beat him up.
That door will be a grand
Windshield's $500
Paint's a couple thousand
You get the idea. it's tough to sell a wrecked car make him pay
Good luck. What's he asking now?

Body work on roofs can be difficult to get right. Car's frame should be checked out just in case it's tweaked. But if you can drive it first and it runs ok, I'd say buy it if he'll accept around $2500 or less as is. You don't want to be in it much more than $5k ready for the road. The mechanics have to be pretty good to make it worthwhile. The color is a minus to some tastes, mine included.
Best of luck!

+1 on the possible tweaked roof/frame. IMHO, if the car was hit hard enough to deform the glass openings and let the glass pop out or crack then the frame is probably compromised. If the seller is willing to let you have it put on a body rack and it checks out straight, then for the right price I say go for it. If the body is tweaked it is just a parts car.
YMMV

I think this car belongs to a 'lister doesn't it?
I think I just saw this car in a thread recently.
As everyone knows the '85 5-speed is the most flexible all around 928 you can get. However the mileage is high enough to make this car another potental donor car. I'm not saying the engine is toast, it's actually just gotten done with the break-in period. What I mean is that if it were an ultra low mileage car it might be worth the restore to someone.
As it is, there are plenty of examples of whole '85 5-speeds out there that would only require various amounts of mechanical work or maybe minor (non crash related) body damage.
Good luck.
