Default Digital Dash Fuel Useage - Accuracy Experiences

Hi, 1990 S4 Auto ROW (stock).

On a recent trip I took note between fiil ups of the average L/100km displayed on the digital dash & the calculation I did useing total KM's & fuel poured in.

The computer claimed various useages of between 10.4 and 11.1 L/100km. Calculation shows between 12.5 and 13 L/100km.

Is this discrepancy (20%) normal or does it show up an issue with the fuel or computer system?

Thanks,
Myles

The computed fuel consumption is only and indication from the various sensors fitted to the engine, as the 928 is not fitted with a fuel flow meter that is temperature corrected, hence the error.

The best check is by filling and calculating the consumption over the distance travelled.

Interesting, always wondered how well it worked.
