After reading some of the post's written lately in regards to other members work. I feel some what like a bottom feeder of the 928 world. Being a Tennis Professional with a wife and two little ones does not leave a lot of leftover funds for building or bringing back to life a 928.
I bought this car for next to nothing which was what I had to spend. Luckly she was in good mechanical shape with a mostly redone interior, headers with custom duel exhaust and a motor that had been refreshed. The paint was horrible and I needed to make her pretty again. I didn't want to put all of my eggs in one basket so I didn't want to spend 3k or more for a paint job which would have wiped out my 928 fund this go around. I had a buddy of mine refer me to a friend and he said he would guide me in the process of painting my 928 for 200 bucks!
I bought the paint products and bumper repair kit and got to work. It took me 5 weeks to complete working from 9 to 3 every day then hitting the courts to coach. I was ignorant to the process and learned a lot. Mostly from my mistakes!
It was a blast and I have a feeling og acomplishment doing the work myself.
I went with a non porsche color for two reasons, one cost and the other was that I had a old Camaro years ago that was stolen and I loved the color so I picked the blue that I loved as I figured how could it not look good on a 928. I also added a strip as I saw a members car painted with one and decided to try it. I am very happy with it as the silver off sets the blue and matches the rims. I realize it will make some want to puck but thats OK. I still have to put the moldings back on and get new tail lights.

Not bad looking at all.
Some will rip ya on painting the beading, but I don't think that looks bad at all.

Great work and certainly a great sense of accomplishment doing it yourself too! Well done! I agree with Sean, but you probably had to keep using the car so taking the front and rear caps off might not have been an option...that said, you can easily go in now that it is done and buy new beading for the front and rear and put that in and it will look PERFECT! I think the stripe should have been wider and I prefer it offset to the drivers side as well...but to each his own and it certainly does not look bad!
Very well done! My hats off to you!

In one of the pictures you can see my wife in the window saying What the F#$k Stephen! I went outside in the rain to take the picks as I just got it
her home. She wasn't to happy with me and my car but when I showed her the photo with her in the window she laughed really hard!
Maybe some of you guy's can relate!

Marine paint? I am lost. I bought the paint from finishmasters a local auto paint store. The paint is a BC/CC and I don't know the color code but it is from a 67 camaro.

Thanks. Well, did you spray it or roll it? Lots of people use Brightside paint and foam roll their cars as an economical route. I was just wondering how you went about painting the car.
