I need to be in Phoenix from April 2nd - 5th and I'm thinking about driving the GTS this time from Houston to Phoenix > Vegas > Houston as I have been flying for the past 4-6 weeks and don't want to be tied down to a return flight schedule. Any advise for the wise on the routes, places to stay over night etc!

Houston to Phoenix is pretty strait forward thru San Antonio across on Rt 10. Phoenix to Vegas is a very nice ride leaving Phoenix on the north west side to Wickenburg, Up RT 93 to RT 40 west. Great road for driving but you need to pay attention. RT 40 west to Kingman is wide open space. Out of Kingman on RT93 again towards Hoover Dam. Strait flat out kinda road thru the desert. Across Hoover Dam into Boulder City then into the south end of the Vegas valley. Enjoy

We are staying at the Arizona Grand and loving it. Too bad we will be gone a little before you are here Herman, would of enjoyed seeing you again... You could head north and visit Alberta if you want a longer road trip!
