Default Thinking about a major upgrade

Having gotten the car out a few weeks ago I am thinking of adding significant hp to my 1980 Euro S. I am Looking at a stage one 928 Motorsports supercharger kit. Carl has been helpful with information and answering my questions. I am also interested in comments on the supercharger kit from people that have installed it on a CIS car. I a worried about the 10.1 compression ratio of the 4.7 Euro motor and how much boost it will handle I am thinking about being in the neighborhood of 5/5.5 lbs of boost. I thinki that it will increase the crank hp significantly. The car currently dynos 273 at the wheels with the modifed exhaust on it. Looking to get to 340+ wheel hp, which means 400 at the crank when I am done. The second consideration is the strength of the driveline, will the extra hp be to hard on the stock components? bear in mind its a 30 yo car.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

I ordered a "tuner" kit exactly a month ago today. I'm looking forward to seeing the UPS Santa arrive at my door. In the meantime I need to figure out why the cars still not starting.

I'm not sure about the CIS cars or the 4.7L for that matter, but I know there are a few people here in 4.5's running around 7lbs of boost without hick-ups. Think the stock driveline will handle the extra ponies just fine.

More like 17lbs

Hopefully I'll be firing her up today after work.

My car is the Murf928 prototype for the L-Jet / MAF 16V cars.

I've got the same target rwhp in mind, "around" 350 rwhp, and I have been chewing over how to do it for a couple years. My choice is to increase the bore to 104mm, fitting 968 pistons to run on the bare Alusil cylinders, upgrading to a more aggressive than Euro S cam profile, then tinkering with the intake and tuning (LHjet brains).

Euro S CIS I suspect even at 5.5 psi will be a tuning adventure that never really ends.

When I had my 90 GT I wanted more power. It was putting down about 315 to the rear wheels. Since getting the GTS I haven't thought about it so much.

Thumbs up

I had the raptor on the gts and found the "feeling of power, ie torque" was missing until about 4000rpm and although I want to live there at 4000 it was not reallistic." I took the sc off and sent the car to greg Brown for modification in Strokerville.
the gts always disappointed me in comparison to the gt. granted it is a auto and that is alot of the difference I guess.
Beautiful car , so many plus's I am just getting the motor up to the level I think it should have been.

If I were to get a sc now I would not get a centrifugal one but a twin screw if it can be had.

Much more usable increase torque and you dont have to be living at high rpm

I`m in the process of installing a 928 Motorsports Stage 1 on my 4.7L. The kit is good , but mine got shipped with some damaged parts, nothing that I cant work with, but damaged nevertheless. Parts are still trickling in after 7 weeks. I will let you know how it turns out when it is completed. Its a good start to build on.
