Just food for thought.
Many new cars are totaled when the SRS system is activated, just from the cost of repairing the the SRS system and what it damaged when it deployed.

Wow! Front, side and rear impact protection. I'd feel really safe in between those.

And think about this:

- they are always deployed
- they won't hurt you
- they last more than 20 years

The only downside is the cost of upkeep. If you think one wife costs you a lot, this kind of "full protection" might be out of reach... LOL!

Are there places where you can send your old airbags for updating/refreshing?

Thanks

P.S. I may post this question in OT as well
There is a pretty good article (7 pages) regarding Porsche Airbags, which also addresses ageing airbags in the December 2009 Excellence Magazine. If you do not have it already you can order a back issue at www.excellence-mag.com. Same edition includes Porsche 928 Values(cough) for what it's worth....

JB itemized the list and ballpark cost of parts that would likely need to be replaced in the event of deployment. It was $16k+ (IIRC) of just parts - enough to total most 928s - but, IIRC, he didn't indicate frame damage has likely.
