Ode to Joy
It wasn't put to music in 1824 by Beethoven, but chimed forth today, when after 3 months of sitting dormant, I fired up the Bleumax on the first turn of the key, where she sprang to immediate life and grumble, rock steady idle, quick loop around the block, and now safely up on the liftbars for the begining of those winter projects!
What a sweet sound it was - this was my first winter with it, so I didn't know what to expect after a long dormancy. These cars never cease to amaze me!
Got my appetite whetted yesterday when I went over to my friends house, and pulled the pod, dash and console off his 86.5. Paul is taking that one to the next level, with a recovering by Rob Budd. It was cool to see all of the wiring exposed, and the other stuff behind the dash. It'l be fun and challenging when we put it back together. Not a job for the faint of heart

Had to head to town first thing this am for breky stuff and also this aft after the gold winning hockey game for some celebratory liquids (consummed at home).
Took the 928 both times...............there's just something real cool about pulling up to the liquor store and the stares and thumbs even in this farm community

I need to get my 911 track car work done so I can get the alignment and new tires and ensure all ready before the first track event in April.
I am definitely in withdawl not driving either since Christmas. but wrenching on them is keeping the worst of the driving-withdrawl symptoms at bay.

yeah, just getting started. I hate working in a freezing cold garage. The worst of the cold temps are past now, but we're still a good 2 months away from driving (I won't take it out until all the road grime they use to pepper the snowy roads washes away, otherwise, I'm just sandblasting the front of my car).
Took the wheels in this morning for powder coat. I want to push the rears out some when I remount - any suggestions on spacers? I'm running stock phone dials, 16", which I plan to keep (I love that origianl look). Will I need longer studs if I use rear spacers?

my 911 is in my garage on jack stands. not heated but attached to house so cold but not below freezing.
the 928 is at a friend's heated garage on a lift.
I will have to let other more experienced folks answer about the rear wheels. my 84 has spacers and long studs, but I have no idea about OBs.
good luck.

Great to read she started well Ed, after three months.., mine has stood the same time, usually I fire her up once a month, but after reading posts on here decided to leave her hibernating,
During this time I,ve managed to do a few little jobs which I,d been putting off, like new ignition wires, rubber seals and vac lines.
Here,s hoping ? wish me luck.
With regards to your spacer query, about fifteen years ago I fitted ( I think?) 23mm rear spacers which give the look your after, they were made from Billet alluminium ( alluminum U.S.) and were placed over the original studs, and had inbuilt studs, so it was literally plug-and play..., and therefore easily restored back to original.
I,m sure you could buy these in the States, however if you have a problem, give me a shout, as I still have the original invoice.
