As a longtime member of the Loyal and Protective Order of the Squirrel Decapitators, I can see where a splitter with sharp little teeth on the front edge could be advantageous, and a splash deflector of some sort to channel the carnage. Of course it would have to have a slip-on guard on it when it's in the garage. Don't want to lose a toe accidentally while walking past!

The benefits of this are really obvious when you think of the damage Nicole could have had when she hit that rock. Not sure this would have been enough in that case, but it is possible that the rock would have been broken by this guard and that would save so much of the underside of the car!

While I am not a betting guy, I'd wager $100 that says the Armadillo has absolutely no chance, zippo against this crash cuard.... (If the Armadillo is airborne, and goes throught the front gill, it will obviously damage the rad. however, if it is run over and the impact is from the crash guard, nothing doing...)

This thing split a rock in half at my former ranch, which I accdentally drove over, while moving the car around the other side of a barn. Apparently, the rock was left there accidentally by one of the horse grooms.

The steel is about 0.25"-0.375" thick, and the support brace between the frame rails is about 1.25" square tube. The Bolts holding it to the frme are about 12mm grade 8 equivalent.. It is the equivalent of a storm water grate.

Believe me when I say I can drive the car up onto a parking berm or sidewalk, and nothing will happen... That exact thing accidentally happened when I let a former GF drive the car to Starbucks with me in it.. Pulled in to the parking space and got the nose up onto the kerb...

It wont matter if that Armadillo has Kevlar, it wont hurt the car.. I know about Armadillos, an aunt of mine has them all over the place at her FL home..

It's not pretty, but it works..

Thanks.. It's not really that difficult to make.. All stuff you can get at most metal supply houses, and a decent fabricator can probably do it for a few hundred dollars easily.

However, keep in mind the spoiler would have to be modified to use with this guard. Even if it was done that way, and the car hit something, the spoiler would be damaged, as it is plastic....

This is why I decided to go with the crash guard and a flat front splitter (which I need to get around to making).

I will try to take some measurements over the weekend and see what I come up with, as I can't find my old notes from when it was made.
