We were out in Oregon last summer...in a rental Camry, sigh....got to drive all around the state...Eugene to Medford..over to Klamath Falls.. up to Crater Lake, and on up to Redmond and on up toward The Dalles, back to Portland.
Some of the most scenic and interesting drives ever, even went up and hiked around Smith Rock State Park and Monkey Face.
Made me wish two things:

I could've stayed 2 weeks and I had a 928 GT to drive

Dan, I just moved here from Ashland, OR in Oct. My outing yesterday was a first taste of local roads and I can hardly wait for more. I did 30 miles on smooth 2-lane blacktop with lots of curves and no traffic. Did it VERY quickly!

Colin and Greg: I understand motor mount issues (and work involved). Don't really want to look! Assume trans. mounts are a bit less difficult.

How do I determine torque tube bearing location? That's a new one.

Kev, you were in my country. Lived in OR all my life. Took retirement to get out of Portland, though 11 years working in Klamath Falls. Spent 3 years in Ashland, now Bend. I can see Smith Rocks from where I am sitting. Ain't gonna move no more!

Love it up in the NW where you guys are at... Had the pleasure of climbing with a friend from the The Dalles in the summer of '86 I think it was... We climbed in CO (backpacking and technical rock work) as well as WA...pseudo alpine style on Mt. Adams. We spent two days on the mountain...stayed on (and climbed) the South or Southwest face...FUN STUFF! It would be a GREAT place to own a 928!

Which one? Where I am about eye level with the clouds behind me or where my buddy Mark is climbing the crack? Or that other shot from a distance where those two guys are REALLY exposed climbing some crazy stuff?!

All of 'em. About 20 years ago I developed a fear of heights for no known reason. I don't like to look down, even when only up on the roof of my house. I will only see Smith Rock from the bottom.

Man...that is so funny..
I used to rock climb, free climb, rappel and hike mountains all the time..
In the last 5-10 years , I also have developed a great fear of heights..
Won't go up on the roof, even when I was out at Smith Rock State Park..I was down along the lower trail just watching
And I now have a '91 Grand Prix white/ Cashmere 928 GT...
What are we like ..long lost brothers or something...?

By the way, did you see that last picture of the rock called Monkey Face?
Well, look close and you will see people climbing up into the mouth of the
Monkey Face... and the closer I got, I realized that the climbers were a bunch of girls/women...!! Man I felt old... and now pretty freaked about heights...!

Hey Jim, There's a good chance that your belt tension is fine and that the warning light system came on due to a break in the warning light circuit. There's a small wire that connects (correct me if I'm wrong here people) to the TB cover that completes the circuit-- the wire is taken off during the service--it's brittle so when it gets messed with it has a tendency to break or wiggle free about 50miles after the timing belt job. Ask me how I know.

Of course, you have to assume the worse and not drive the car until you check it out but be sure to check for the wire's connection.
